PERSECUTION OF MESSIANIC BELIEVERS IN ISRAEL

The Messianic community in Israel has been, for years, persecuted by the ultra-Orthodox.

Spreading lies about individuals, businesses, congregations and even vandalism and threats have been a part of life for many Israelis who have accepted their Messiah.

Maoz assists the persecuted believers by helping with business expenses, legal fees and personal support.

ONGOING PROJECTS:

* Ami Ortiz

On March 20, an individual dressed in an Israeli army uniform,  entered an apartment building in the West Bank town of Ariel and set a package at the door of the apartment of David and Leah Ortiz - leaders or a Messianic Congregation in Ariel. It was a lovely Purim present with a card that said, "Purim  Sameach!" The cleaning lady brought the package in and set it on the table.

Ami Ortiz, 15 - the only family member that was at home at the time - sat down at the table and pulled the ribbon off the package, and flew backwards, his body ripped to shreds. He was found on the kitchen floor in a pool of blood.

Miraculously, Ami survived and is now undergoing a long recovery process.

The police has yet to identify any suspects. Therefore David has hired a criminal lawyer to push for apprehending the perpetrators of this terrible crime. Obviously, the intent of the bomber was to kill David and Leah.

* Arad and Beer Sheva Congregations

1105_front Orthodox Jews Arad

The two congregations are located in southern Israel - areas heavily populated by the ultra-Orthodox.

Both congregations have been under attack for a few years now. The Orthodox protest in front of the congregations during the meetings, and also in front of the houses of the attenders.

A chess club, run by the Arad congregation, has even been set on fire.

Maoz has helped the congregations with legal assistance, as well as with personal support - by organizing a trip to the congregations for Sabbath worship services.

* Pnina Pie

Israel and Pnina Comforti are Messianic believers who own a bakery in a southern city.

When the Orthodox community found out about their faith it took just a few days for them to spread lies about the bakery and the family. Flyers have been posted around the city and in every synagogue, calling for a boycott on the bakery.

One day, an Orthodox man walked into the bakery, tearing off their Kosher certificate from the wall.

Maoz has been helping the Comfortis with legal fees.
